Equipoise is a drug that is mainly used for veterinary purposes; it is more commonly used for veterinary treatment than it is used for human treatment. This drug in an injectable form is mainly used on horses and is only available through prescription. Body builders who want to use this drug around the world need to purchase it from underground labs and black market resources. Even for horses this drug is not used alone; a proper diet and nutrition intake with exercise is necessary as it can cause aggression in them. Humans use it for gaining muscles and weight and also because equipoise is known to increase protein synthesis, nitrogen retention in the muscles as well equipoise also increases red blood cells. The increase in blood cells by this can be fast and rapid which can be very advantageous for athletes who use equipoise.
As equipoise is not a fast acting anabolic steroid so it is better to stack it with other forms of testosterone in order to promote faster muscle growth and development. For bodybuilders it is suggested to make an intake of 200mg to 400 mg in a week, while women should stick to lower dosages that are between 500mg to 75mg per week.
Side effects of equipoise
Like other steroids equipoise also has its side effects which are like:
Sexual- There are a few sexual side effects which can be faced by users who are on an average dose of equipoise. It can lead to increased estrogen levels, which impair the sexual function in men.
Appearance- it can cause side effects in the appearance as well; in the following ways:
- Acne- it can lead to the appearance of small red spots around the neck, back and shoulder; this is known as acne formation.
- Gynecomastia- It also leads to the development of breasts; this can be seen in those people who have been long time users of equipoise. A breast tissue is formed in the man’s chest which gradually takes the formation of lumps under the nipples.
- Hair loss- another side effect of equipoise is that it may facilitate the production of DHT which leads to hair follicles to weaken and shrink drastically. Gradually it leads to the death of hair follicles leading to permanent hair loss.
- Oily skin- this is another issue that is faced; equipoise usage can lead to oily skin.
Increased aggression- as mentioned before if taken solely then it can cause aggression in horses in the same manner if humans consume it without following a proper diet and exercise then it can lead to aggression.
Blood pressure- as told before equipoise also increases the red blood cells but it can also elevate the blood pressure.
Appetite- equipoise use can lead to an increase in appetite, which can make dieting quiet difficult for the users. So it is advisable to design a plan which ensures that there is no unnecessary weight gain.
Equipoise is safe if taken in proper dosages and in the prescribed manner, if not then it can cause serious problems.
